ASA Launches Online Cost
Calculator for ACA Compliance
Staffing firms can assess potential costs
and decide whether to “pay or play”

for ASA member staffing companies,
allows users to save and revisit data.

The Employer Shared Responsibility, also
known as the “pay or play”
rules, under the Affordable
Care Act apply to employers with 50 or more full-time and full-time equivalent employees in 2013. Because
staffing firms must include their temporary
employee hours in their headcounts for purposes of determining whether the law applies
to them, the great majority of ASA members
will be subject to the employer provisions that
become effective Jan. 1, 2014.
Staffing firms subject to the law must either
offer minimum essential health coverage to
their full-time employees (and the employees’
children under 26) or risk being subject to penalties in the form of a nondeductible excise
tax. To assist ASA member staffing companies with assessing their potential costs under
those provisions, the association in March
launched the ASA Affordable Care Act Cost
Calculator for Staffing. The online calculator is
exclusively for ASA member staffing companies and allows users to save and revisit data.
