1. What is a typical day like in the membership department?
Our goal in the membership department is to provide member companies with great
service and help them use their member benefits to grow their businesses. We answer
questions from members and those considering membership, onboard new members
with orientations, and update rosters to ensure all employees of member companies can
take advantage of resources. We receive a variety of questions every day—everything
from how to add new staff to how to post a question on ASA Central.
2. What’s your top tip to help members make the most of their ASA membership?
Keep in touch with ASA by reading Staffing Today. You’ll learn about free upcoming
webinars, new data and research, new legal and legislative offerings, and much more.
You can also learn more about member benefits by watching the “Maximize Your
ASA Membership” on-demand recording. Members are also encouraged to contact
the membership department directly. We are always happy to discuss your needs
and interests, and make suggestions on how you can make the most of your ASA

The two textbooks I read to prepare for the exam, Employment Law For Staffing
Professionals and Co-Employment: Employer Liability Issues in Third-Party Staffing
Arrangements, really helped me understand the myriad federal and state employment
laws every staffing professional needs to abide by. Staffing firms can have a lot of
exposure to liability in these areas; I encourage members to become certified and have
their staff certified to avoid costly legal missteps. Plus, ASA certifications help you gain
recognition from both clients and candidates.
4. How are members using ASA Central to advance their careers and their
ASA Central is a great place for all members to express thoughts, make connections,
and share ideas or questions. I always advise members: If you have an issue, concern, or
thought, others probably share that and likely will have input. Harness the expertise of
24,000 fellow members to help your business grow. Plus, becoming a regular participant
can help you gain recognition and a valuable network of professional contacts.
5. What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy entertaining, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends. I am also a
Girl Scout leader for a junior troop and especially enjoy organizing events and crafts for
the girls. n
